“Success and Failure”

Featured

I am in Navy, 23 years old and I don’t think that I am experienced enough to address such a large pool of people with such variety of experiences you all must have been through all through your lives. But I won’t miss this opportunity either…!!

Once a father asked his son Who are you? The son went blank… he said-Dad, would you allow me some time? The son came back to his Dad and said dad “I am a soldier, I am a fighter, I am a lover… Yet though I am a Mariner”. Such is the aura and privilege of the industry we all are a part of. I welcome you all to this amazing world of mighty oceans and daring seafarers.
***Now there are three things in life that I consider and they have helped me in amazing ways. They are discussed below.
  • Something to look up to- My hand folded thanks to the Almighty because that’s who I look up to, he has graced me with ample opportunities. He has shown me that it’s a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates. In the words of late Charlie Laughton who said “When you got God you got a friend and that friend is you”.
  • Someone to look forward to- I am thankful to my family for their immense support. And they are who I look forward to. Their love, the courage and significance they have given me every day is unparalleled. They taught me and my siblings rather demanded that we respected ourselves and what we in turn learned was that we were better able to respect others. So thank you mom and dad.
  • Someone to chase to- To my hero, now that’s who I chase! When I was a child, I wanted to be like a superman, a batman or a captain America but as I grew up, I soon realized that my heroes were all fictions but then there was a lot that I could carry forward from these characters. Hardships and joys were all the part and parcel of their life and so it is for all of us but it is important we realize our purpose. For me, I can never be my hero because my hero is always five years ahead of me. You know why? – because my hero is me after five from now…and I love chasing him to the fullest of caliber.
“Every journey begins with a single step” is a very famous quote but if we put a little more light on the phrase and make an attempt to explore it. It tells us that in order to begin the smallest thing in life we need to move on. Move on from the ambiguity of our thoughts and be crisp and precise, move on from the thoughts which bring in us the perception of destination rather than enjoying the journey to its fullest. Surely if we live while enjoying the journey we’re sure to reach the destination faster.
We need to stop acting like ‘I will do it tomorrow’ rather motivate ourselves to ‘I am doing it now’. ‘Now’ is important, remember ‘tomorrow’ never comes. For every individual in life it is very important that we that we enjoy failure in life so that we can cherish and rejoice our success better.
If we analyze history, it tells us that- ‘No success was never a failure.’ Every success was once a fatal failure. When we fail in life, we not only eliminate one process that would fail us again rather we find an alternative of being a little closer to success. The intensity of the failure is a reference or the scale upon which your success will be rated. Be it the likes of legends like Mohammad Ali (the boxer) or Michael Jordan (basketball) or the Arnold (Mr. Olympia) or Thomas Edison (bulb) or Roger Federer (tennis) or be the common man achieving his daily goals. To all these kind of people, failure was never the same as it was to others. They saw failure with different perspectives. Their journey was not a single track road but indeed it was an array of different and wild co-ordinates. They never wanted to succeed in the very first attempt. They overtook their opponents by eliminating hundreds of thousands of ways of not losing to them. For them decision-making was not just an alternative between ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ rather it was an alternative between being ‘absolutely right’ and being ‘just right’.
Being successful in life may mean different to different people but the course of every journey towards the success remains the same i.e. being through failure and fatal failures and then learning from these failures. I would consider these few things very important in life I order to be anywhere close to success.
  • To have faith and belief in Almighty.
  • To have faith in yourself.
  • The willingness to fail.
  • Attitude towards the journey of life.
  • The social circle.
  • Your critics, are they close enough or are they far away. The closer they are, the better it is.***
I would like to conclude by quoting Franklin Roosevelt who said When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and just hang on.

A girl before a mirror!

“Who do you think an artist is? …he is a political being, constantly aware of the heart breaking, passionate, or delightful things that happen in the world, shaping himself completely in their image. Painting is not done to decorate apartments. It is an instrument of war.”

***One of the most famous and different works of Pablo Picasso has been the painting known as “A girl before a mirror”. Pablo Ruiz y Picasso who was popularly known as Pablo Picasso was a natural born artist born in Malaga in Spain on the 25th day of October, in the year 1881. Apart from being a painter as we all know him but surprisingly he was more than just a painter. He worked as sculptor, print maker, ceramicist, stage designer, playwright and a poet as well. In this work we are going to analysis one of the significant works of the legend. The work was produced by Picasso in the year 1932 and though it described and evoked an image of vanity which was most used in those times but Picasso has very smartly shifted the emphasis and has created a very different view to the image. The work has got lot of appreciations as it was a bold initiative by Picasso to represent what he has indeed represented through the painting through wide range of actions…
The girl in the painting is Picasso’s young French mistress named Marie Therese Walter and she has been painted several times during the 1930s by the courtesy of Picasso. Picasso has demonstrated very much different talent right though his early days, always painting in a realistic manner throughout his childhood and adolescence. It was during the first decade of the 20th century that the style of Picasso changed as he started experimenting with different theories, ideas and techniques in together (pablopicasso.org). He is certainly one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and widely known for co-founding the cubist movement, and this great painting “A girl before a mirror” was actually painted during this period. The mirror image of the girl in the mirror is painted in the cubism style which became very popular during the time frame and Picasso is significantly considered as the founding father of the style. All parts of the painting are painted boldly with geometric patterns. The idea of cubism is to take an object, break it into simple shapes, and then re-creating the broken shapes on a canvas. It is important that each shape represent significance and a different perspective at the same time. But we all know that looking into a mirror for a long time make us doubtful about our beauty, similarly the girl in the mirror sees flaws in her physical beauty. There are number of interpretations one can make from the image like- the girl is pregnant and looking in the mirror trying to notice her lopsided breasts and fat belly, second the girl has an angelic face looking in the mirror but her reflection in the mirror is dark, which gives the girl a sense of being flawed.
For me a girl in the mirror is a painting which talks about reflections of ourselves like we see ourselves to how others see us or I simple words we can think of it as the duality of the nature in daily life. It also signifies that people on a regular note are wrestling themselves but many efforts go unnoticed by others but we need give ourselves some time. I see a beautiful girl in the mirror that is looking for her reflections in the mirror and is very excited about her baby which she’ll be bringing to the world who would be her future reflection. I love the painting because of the fact that you simply don’t understand it on the very first look in fact one will have to invest their time looking to find out what the work is trying to signify is more than just one sees. The painting in a very beautiful way tries to tell us that ‘everything you imagine is real’.
While looking at the painting I tried imagining different things which are not in the painting and that are why Picasso is no doubt one of my favorite painters of all time. Specially the background with crazy diamonds and circle patterns of it being a halocline pattern which symbolizes that Picasso himself thought of himself as a trickster. Hence it is of great importance that the background is a metaphor for Picasso.
The best part of the painting is that it meets you where you are, like if you are ready to go there it’ll invites you to redefine the way you perceive things and if not you just want to keep staying where you are, it will say I am with you there too. I would like to end the analysis by a famous quote by the legend Picasso which surely reflects his style and the content of work.***

“If I paint a wild horse, you might not see the horse… but surely you will see the wildness…!”

The Journey Ahead…

“Our greatest concern should not be whether God is on our side, our greatest concern to be on God’s side, for God is always right” ~ Abraham Lincoln

***Promise yourself to be strong that nothing can disturb the peace of your mind. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit and allow the presence of trouble. Say to yourself,
“I choose to evolve!”.
The blogs on this site are the views and prospects of how to look life and how to proceed further with the journey. I’m in Navy, a mariner. Though i am just 23, younger and inexperienced than many of you, but i am taking this opportunity and responsibility to try to inspire every one of you in one or the other way possible. What we resist to fight, continue to happen in our lives. Each thought we have is connected to an emotion in us. This is when you can realize that all your emotions are connected to your thoughts. We must end over thinking, start letting go and trust. The more we trust, the more we are able to let go, and the more life turns out to be okay. Always remember that you are unstoppable, you are unique with an unbounded potential. I am proud of all those you have found some light in many of the darkest moments of their life. I’m proud that everyday you try to get up and get things done. There’s something beautiful about you, that smile you carry through any hardship. you inspire me to be the best I can be, by being the best you can be. You’re incredible and I am proud of you for making it this far. I just wanted to tell you that I’m proud of you and we should be proud of one another.

Though I am yet to be commissioned in couple of months, and will be witnessing a new attitude to life with new and wider horizons to counter. But over the time, I promise that I will keep bringing new stories and prospects to life, so that we can learn from each others experience and exposure to life.***
Till then, have a big heart, keep fighting and don’t just give up!!
